Spend the night in a self-made igloo

The sky slowly turns pink and the peaks that line up seem even more dramatic and rugged than they looked in the daylight. It is a beautiful natural spectacle. The sun stops warming and we just finished building our igloo. It was an exhausting yet instructive day where we learned many things about building igloos. Sawing snow blocks, preparing spirals, placing igloo domes: Building igloos is an art that requires some know-how and intuition! By the time we finished, night had already caught up with us. Meanwhile, the fondue is simmering over the gasoline stove we entrust for these tours, waiting for hungry participants. The sky fills with stars, the visibility is crystal clear and the air is ice cold. We take a sip of mulled wine and toast to the successful day, chat for a bit, and then settle into the self-built igloo, where we are embraced by warm sleeping bags. Inside the igloo, the temperature is about 0°, even though it can be up to -20° outside. Our igloo adventures are as unique as you are: that’s why we plan them carefully and adventurously, so that we will have an unforgettable adventure full of breathtaking views, exercise and fun in the snow.

Some areas where we offer our igloo overnights are:
Andermatt, Airolo, Engelberg, Melchsee-Frutt, Zermatt, Muota Valley, Klausen Pass, Urseren Valley, Susten Pass, Grosstal, Erstfeld valley, Lidernen, Furka Pass and many more.

Planned schedule of the Igloo Build’n’Sleep

Erfolgreicher Bau am ersten Tag

Day 1

At the meeting point we organize our equipment and walk pleasantly to the location where we will set up the igloo camp. Now it means a lot of manual work and skill to set up a stable and beautiful construction in which we will spend the night. Brick by brick we build our new home, which can accommodate 2 to 4 people. Sawing snow blocks, setting them correctly and digging an underground entrance: building igloos is not easy, but it is incredibly fun.

Winter nights are cold but crystal clear: In the evening you can enjoy a glass of mulled wine and a fine fondue under the stars, and toast with your new friends about the successful day. When the time comes, we slip into our sleeping bags and enjoy a restful sleep. The temperature in the igloo is usually around 0°, even if it is much colder outside!
